how much should i take to the car auction?

I live in maryland and I am interested in buying a car..I don't want to have to pay a car payment..I am looking to purchase a Acura tl starting at the year 1999...I am looking for a reliable car..I also am not sure what to expect because this is my first time doing the auction thing...I just want to know what would be best to take and which auction would be best to go to

1. Definitely take a friend who knows about cars or a mechanic if you can, I don't trust auction cars because they are as is, you can buy one today and then the engine could blow on you tomorrow and you're out of luck after that

3. Take every penny you have. If you're lucky you can come home with some change.
4. here in AZ i just bought a 1999 tl with 106k and in PERFECT condition for 4600 at the auction...so take about 5000 and hope for the best....make sure the air and heat work, all windows are working and the car doesnt idle hard before you purchase.....good luck!
5. IF you are looking for a reliable car, stay away from the Acura TL unless it is 2004 model or newer. Take a look at consumer reports, and other reviews, you will see that the older TL's had many mechanical and electrical issues. I recently bought a new car, and while searching for one, I was highly considering a used TL, until I found out that they are not nearly as reliable as the other Acura and Honda models. Since an 04 or newer TL was out of my price range, I ended up choosing a high mileage 2005 Honda Accord EX V6 coupe, and am very, very happy with my choice. But, I really hate it when people do not answer the actual question, so, if you are absolutely set on that year make and model, I would suggest bringing $7,000. And then if you come home with a car and 2-3,000 bucks leftover, you did well!
