How do I change the distributer cap on my renault clio alize?
I have a T reg renault clio alize. When I go to start her, she turns over but will not actually start. I have been told the distributer cap is probably wet and needs drying. The Haynes manual I have is not much help, where exactly is it under the bonnet and how do I get it off. Thanks Di

- Do you have a Distributor Cap ?? send me a pic and maybe I can help honda@ainop.com
- u will know the cap as it has ur plug leads coming from it probably 4 with one in the centre coming from ur coil.it may be held on by 2 clips from side of distributor, they usually r protected from the wet, if it is damp take it off without removing the leads.and dry inside of it then replace it.if the leads r damp try spraying them with wd 40 . but it may b some other problem
- Depending on what engine you have. Look for the 5 high tension leads from the spark plugs if its petrol and follow them back to the distributer. It will be round with one lead in the middle and the other four around the middle one. if you remove the leads be sure to mark 1 to 4 for which plug they belong so as to put them back in the righ order. You should also really check the plugs, rotoe arm (inside the distributer cap) and the points as they may be worn and preventing you from starting the car. Shame you're not in Gloucester or I would have offered to do it for you.
- no cap on these should be a coil pack, is the red immobiliser light on the dash going out? have been to a few of these where one of the fuses under the bonnet has popped and cuts off the power to the fuel pump
