How much do you think I might get for my car at auction?

I can't decide whether or not it would be worthwhile selling my car through an auction. It's a 1997 Renault Megane Scenic, in excellent condition inside, with one bump and a bit of rust on the outside. It's mileage is 138k. No MOT or Tax. Any car dealers out there who might know if it's worth trying to sell it through the auction? Many thanks. Oh the charge is £15 + VAT to enter it, plus 7.5% + VAT commision

  1. 2p
  2. £500...ish
  3. Without MOT or tax, it's only worth scrap value. I'd be surprised if it realised £100 to be perfectly honest. I'd suggest Ebay.
  4. nowadays when the car market is nearly down to 0 you will get nothing, better to sell it privately. put a sign for sale on your car much better.
  5. Not worth it as it will not sell at that age miles and no MOT - would you buy it?
  6. If your car will pass its mot then mot it and sell it - you do not state what size engine you have auto or manual etc. If your car will not pass its mot then why not ?? it may cost hundreds of pounds to make it roadworthy or just a few pounds this will affect the value of your car. Does it have structural defects rust , need welding ?? shock absorbers ok brake pipes corroded ? worn tyres etc etc. Clutch ok the list goes on , oil leaks ??
  7. This car would be excellent for the scrappage scheme. Get £2000 for it.,
  8. I wouldn't bother entering it with no test. Even with test I'd of seen it through the ring at £250. No test nobody would buy. Take it down the scrappy and get £80 approx.
  9. I go to auctions all the time. The thought of an un-MOT'd, untaxed, rusty, bashed 12 year old Megane with 138k on the clock wouldn't tempt my hand in the air much beyond the £150 mark.
