Why wont my Renault Laguna car start?

I have an R Reg 2.0 Renault Laguna. The Remote door locking hasn't worked for a couple of years, but the car has always started with the keys. The other night it would not start although lights, dashlights etc all work. Put new batteries in the keys still didn't work. Disconnected battery for 5 mins still doesn't work. Any ideas please?

1. you may need a new fob get the battery tested first as fobs are very expensive try your fuses as well,
2. Could be anything from an immobiliser fault to a snapped cam belt: You'll need to do some more diagnosis - is there fuel pressure, a spark, does the starter motor turn, etc., etc.?
3. did you try cleaning your battery cables
4. As it being a french car, Youd never avoid running into something like this. Its either the fob/key which are around £15 on ebay and programming £5. Or it could be your immoboliser kicking in.
